Skincare is something that I have always had a true passion for and it might just be because my skin is quite problematic but in a different way than most people’s. I never really was one to have breakouts however I would more often than not have a couple blemishes here and there but by no means was it a huge concern for me. Except for at the moment when I feel like the world is over because I have to cover them up especially since these typically lead to dry patches for me so it leads to bad skin for at least a week. With that being said my skin is very very dry and always has been. Which leads to uneven and rough skin if I’m not careful with what I use. I also tend to get “too” used to products meaning after a long time of using the same products my skin no longer reacts properly to them. So I have two sets of products that I love rotating so that my skin is always taken care of.
With that being said, there are so many products out there that I love experimenting with. I try not to change my skincare routine too often because it really isn’t good for the skin but every once in a while I get excited and want to try something new or something I liked previously but haven’t used in a while. Unfortunately it doesn’t always work out well.
The first product is something that has become increasingly popular these past few months and that is micellar cleansing water. So, I have picked up the Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water from CVS. I thought this would be a perfect way to rid the makeup from my skin without drying it out before washing with cleanser. However, after weeks of using it, my face was becoming incredibly dry. I decided to start using it just to remove my eye makeup and it works perfectly. It takes all makeup off including mascara and doesn’t leave any residue behind.
Next, I picked up three products from Lush (one which I have tried before). I generally go through a phase once a year or so where I want to switch over to Lush skincare products because I love what the line stands for. But, once again I think I have been reminded that maybe only the bath and mask products are for me. The three I tried were the Enchanted Eye Cream, Skin Drink Moisturizer, and 9 to 5 Cleansing Lotion.
The Enchanted Eye cream felt nice on the skin but it was fairly runny and felt like nothing more than a light lotion. It is definitely soothing but doesn’t do much beyond that. The Skin Drink Moisturizer is the item I have used before and I must of tried it during Spring/Summer when I’m not as dry because I remember liking it and this wasn’t the case this time around. The only thing wrong with the product was I didn’t feel it was moisturizing enough. I felt like I had to reapply multiple times before getting in bed because the product would just disappear from my face. Last, the 9 to 5 Cleansing Lotion that I purchased because I felt that it could be an amazing gentle cleanser that would benefit my dry skin. It smelled beautifully but my face just never felt “clean” it definitely felt like a makeup remover rather than a cleanser that is going to get all the dirt and grime off the face. Unfortunately this skincare trial reminded me that there really isn’t anything like the few products I have always loved.
