The “everyday” make up look is so difficult for me to get a handle on. Typically, the intention for a simple look is there but I end up with a full blown smoky eye. One thing leads to another and I just cannot help it! Although lately, I have been really working on the less is more look. Sometimes if I am feeling like I want a little extra I have a few items that really perk up my look. I love using those products on a Friday or Saturday when I know we will be doing something at night and don’t want to have to redo my make up beforehand…yes I can be that lazy sometimes.
For the sake of length I have split my everyday make up look into two separate blog posts. Today, I want to share my go to base products for the face. These are just my absolute essentials that I keep in my make up bag. They are my tried and true. Before I begin, I will let you know that I have dry skin…literally it’s like the Sahara desert on my face. So, finding base products that have coverage without looking cakey is incredibly difficult. However, I think that I have somehow managed to discover a few staples that really don’t accentuate my dryness but rather make my skin look smooth and flawless minus the cakey look.
I should also mention…these products look just as perfect from when I put them on at 8am to when I take them off at 10pm.
The First Aid Beauty Coconut Skin Smoothie Priming Moisturizer is my current primer. I don’t want to say too much because I plan to dedicate an entire post to this product. It is that amazing. It makes my foundation apply flawlessly while adding a little extra moisture to my skin. Let’s just say…I typically don’t use primers or stop using them because I feel they never do anything. This has completely changed the game for me.
NARS Creamy Radiant Concealer is an oldie but goodie. I am sure you have seen literally every beauty blogger out there rave about this product being grouped in their everyday make up favorites. That’s because no matter your skin type it looks absolutely perfect on the skin. It truly just looks smooth whether it be underneath the eyes or on the face (one of the few that has enough coverage to work on both for me). It is never cakey and doesn’t crease on me as long as I am sure to set it with a powder.
Next up, the under eye powder that I have been using since I can remember. No matter what I have tried in the past I always come back to the Laura Mercier Brightening Powder for Undereyes. In fact, I don’t even try other products anymore because this powder is so finely milled that it sets my concealer without looking like I have really added any powder. For a girl with dry skin, that is an absolute dream. I pick up a decent amount on my brush and place it underneath my eyes…wait about 30 seconds and then brush away the excess…this ensures that the under eyes don’t crease.
The Charlotte Tilbury Light Boosting Perfect Skin Foundation is absolutely the perfect everyday liquid foundation for summertime. If this isn’t something in your everyday make up rotation it definitely should be so long as you like light coverage and glowing skin. Now, this product I don’t wear on a daily basis but I either wear it when I want a little extra coverage with the bareMinerals foundation powder or when I only need a little coverage with the Charlotte Tilbury powder. It really is just meant to even the skin and give a luminous effect.
Most days, the only foundation I reach for is the bareMinerals Original Foundation. Now, you are probably thinking I am absolutely crazy for using a powder foundation everyday when I have dry skin and typically I would agree with you. But, this foundation is literally the perfect coverage and for whatever reason doesn’t show any signs of dry skin. In fact, half way through the day I get a little luminous glow coming through. This is perfect for any girls that literally just want a quick easy solution for every day make up. Two people I think of who would specifically love this are my sister and brother’s girlfriend. They love easy, quick and light coverage but want their skin perfected. This is definitely the ticket!
Finally, the Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Powder is perfect for really giving the skin a soft focus affect. I love this powder for everyday make up when I skip on the bareMinerals. Although, I typically have to be having a really good skin day if I am using just this and the CT Light Boosting Foundation. This powder truly just perfects the skin and you really can’t see any trace of it. I also love using this with my two favorite night foundations (Chanel Healthy Glow and Dior Forever).
My absolute favorite highlighter that I basically use exclusively is the Becca Highlighter in Opal. I absolutely love this shade because it isn’t too warm or too cold. You truly cant see any color on the skin but rather just the glow which of course is what I want in a highlight. Most people can totally skip on the highlight for an everyday makeup look but because my skin can look so dull I think it just adds a little extra luminosity.
Another cult favorite is the Benefit Hoola Bronzer. This is an absolute must…of course because for everyday I want something that is going to work as both a bronzer and contour powder rather than having to add the additional product. This is totally the one! It’s not too warm and really helps add a little chisel to my cheeks. I love using it with my NARS Ita Brush because I can add the sharp contour line and then blend up to add bronze to my cheek bones.
For blush, I typically swap between two…the first being MAC Warm Soul and the second being Tarte Seduce. I love both of them and truly just go with whichever color I am wanting. MAC warm soul adds extra glow and has a bit of a peach undertone and the Tarte blush is more mauve and matte.
All of these products are absolutely amazing and make your skin look as though you hardly put any effort in at all. If you have the chance, pick up one or all of these items because I promise you wont regret adding these into your everyday make up routine.
