With previously generations, you hardly ever saw a wedding without a bride in a veil. Nowadays brides have so many choices when deciding on the perfect accessories for their special day. Veils are absolutely gorgeous and of course give that “bride-esque” feeling you typically are wanting but with that being said I don’t think veils are meant for every wedding dress.
Really deciding what headpiece is going to complete your wedding day look is so important. A crown for a more princess styled dress. The type of crown that I absolutely think is gorgeous and becoming more popular lately are flower crowns. Those definitely fit a specific type of wedding. There are jeweled clips that are absolutely gorgeous with updos.
Birdcage veils are stunning for a more vintage vibe…especially with a red lip thrown in. There are so many different length veils which I think is totally preference. However, I do believe that dresses with a lot of detail and jewels just might not fit a veil best. I really love cathedral veils. I think with the right dress they can look absolutely breath taking and I love how dramatic they feel. Headbands are also a perfect option that go with so many different dresses as they are more simple.
I feel most of us have grown up going to weddings, seeing beautiful brides on magazines, using Pinterest for wedding inspiration or even just watched chick flicks involving brides and weddings. Therefore it is so easy to get caught up in the “rules” of a wedding or how things are “supposed” to be done. What the bride “should” wear and all the different “traditional” details weddings are supposed to have. Truthfully, I think it is so easy to feel pressured and caught up in all of that. If is anything I have learned from wedding planning…it’s to really be honest to yourself and design the type of wedding that fits both of your personalities rather than focusing on the status quo.
That being said, veils are definitely the most common headpiece worn as they are arguably are the most traditional. But, I don’t think that necessarily means that every bride and every dress is fit for the same accessories. I think that there are so many different stunning options that fit multiple styles and personalities. My best advice is go with what fits with your bridal look best and make sure it’s the exact one YOU want. Something that is so important when planning a wedding…your opinion should matter most.
